Kelvingrove Dancers
Glasgow based dance group that with a focus on Scottish Step Dancing.
Kae has run a Glasgow based community dance group, Kelvingrove Dancers since 2009, organising step dance events, workshops, and inviting national and international guest tutors. We perform at community events.
Step Dancing is a traditional style of Scottish Dancing that is lively, energetic, healthy and above all good fun. Usually danced in hard soled shoes, it can be done anywhere and in your own everyday clothes. The dancing is done both solo and in groups. The music is traditional Scottish jigs, reels and strathspeys played at a lively tempo. The dancers step out a rhythm to the music using toes and heels.
Regular members meet up for practice with our own musicians every Thursday at SDTA Studios: 1st Floor, 101 Park Road, Glasgow, G4 9JE (Currently meet up online).
We invite guest teachers 4-6 times a year. In past we have invited Toby Bennett, Màiri Britton, Alison Carlyle, Aneta Dortova, Nic Gareiss, Anita MacDonald, Jocelyn Pettit, Caroline Reagh, Sandy Silva and Sophie Stephenson.
We invite family & friends to our Ceilidh event at the end of term (June & December).
